Zuko's Lone Journey. Final. (Olivia Stevenson)

Zuko’s Lone Journey
As Zuko approached the small earth village, hunched over from fatigue, he felt another painful rumble deep in his stomach. He wanted nothing more than to enter the small township in peace; maybe he could share a meal with a kind stranger? He gripped the reins on his/the ostrich horse with his right hand and with his left he ran his fingers over the stamp across his face. Now his muscles quickly forced him upright once again. How could he let such a thought come close to entering his mind? He was branded, outcast by his own family! Why then would even a stranger want to share a simple, civil meal with him! Producing a large flame in his hand, Zuko fixed his eyes on the road ahead fuelling his mind to get back in the game; find the avatar, don’t hesitate to kill him and re-gain acceptance from all who matter.
On he went; the feet of his ostrich horse thumping a slow tempo against the rusty red road; the dust creating a constant red glow all around them. Suddenly the tempo quickened. Zuko looked all around trying to match the rumbling sound to something. They began to shake uncontrollably until Zuko found himself on the ground, dust blocking his entire vision. A woman’s voice cut through the haze. The voice was faint but sweet, “You shouldn’t be proud of that.” He stared straight ahead of him in hope of catching a glimpse of the person the voice belonged to. It came again, “You ought to be a little more careful with where you show that sort of thing. Folks around here don’t take to that very well.” Waving his hand around attempting to clear the air, he finally saw a pair of green eyes emerge. A breeze caused black hair to whip across the woman’s face as she stretched out her hand, beckoning for Zuko to take hold of it. He gripped tightly, in an attempt to be able to control the situation. He trusted no body. Now they were face to face. She was beautiful, a gentle and captivating woman. She was dressed in long, silk garments that made her seem angelic and everything froze for just one moment. He forgot his anger. When he remembered how to breathe again, he tried to demand a name from the mystery girl. He could feel his cheeks warming. A small chuckle confirmed that yes, he was blushing. This aggravated Zuko but at the same time it made him even more intrigued about who this majestic lady was. He decided to just stay quiet until she spoke again.
“What is troubling you? You seem to be in a rather pensive mood.  Well, I assume that, judging by the way that flame fuelled you.”
Now he was on the defence again. Don’t trust anyone, especially not a woman! She knows I’m fire nation. Zuko remained quiet.
The pair of them didn’t know what to do next so in hope of diffusing the tension they both began to walk towards the village, the ostrich horse following closely behind. A few minutes had passed when Zuko finally looked up again. He was standing outside an old clay hut with a thatched roof. The woman gestured for Zuko to go inside, it was apparent that this quaint place was her home. Why did he want to go inside when every part of him was telling him not to? A battle within was raging just over the simple decision to go inside or not. Who did this woman remind him of?
Thud!
Zuko went hurtling forward through the narrow door of the hut. Apparently his means of transport thought it was a brilliant idea for him to go inside; and yet again, he was on the ground.
The smell of hot soup filled the air, this was a home. He sat up and looked all around him. The woman was already serving him a large bowl of the heavenly soup. He had got what he wished for; a meal with a kind stranger. Still the familiarity of this lady etched at his mind.
“What is your name!?” Zuko demanded in an abrupt and gravel voice.
“My name is Gaido tsuki, what is yours fire boy?” she replied cheekily.
“That is un important, I have no place, therefore I am nobody.”
Gaido sarcastically raised her hands in submission,
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to bring up your demons there fire boy, I hope you don’t mind me using that name since I can’t use your real one.”
Zuko got up from the floor and sat up at the table with Gaido to eat his soup. She began gleefully telling him stories and legends of the earth kingdom but he didn’t hear a thing. The meal was over and the warmth of a home recalled his longing for rest.

Tossing and turning, aggravation haunted him. Accepting such kindness is weak!  He jolted upright wiping sweat from his brow with his sleeve. He had to leave, now!
He left quietly, stoking the fire and leaving behind a gratifying flame. That should keep her warm.
On he went. This time he couldn’t see the red haze of dust being kicked up by his ostrich horse, only the blue glow of the moon. The air felt crisp against his expressionless face, he was back on the right path. What was I thinking? How foolish of me. She must have been an accomplice of my fathers. Of all the stupid things I have done. But she mesmerized me, she help me captive, those eyes, something about those eyes! What am I thinking? I could have been in her next soup had I not been woken from my sleep. She’s not on my side, no one is.
A glistening in the distance came with the rising of the sun. Thousands of tiny beams of lights came darting towards Zuko and his ride. The ostrich horse immediately reared and was full speed ahead. He had found water! Fresh and flowing water. The river was strangely still and curved around bends smoothly. Zuko let his pet drink and play in the water, but he couldn’t bear to watch such a happy being. He sat down hunched over on his knees and stared deeply into the water. The great rumbling came again shaking him from left to right; his gaze remaining on the glassy surface of the water. What was going on? A woman appeared once more. This time she was wearing red robes and had a face as pale as the winter snow. Her eyes were green too and she beckoned for Zuko just as Gaido had. A young boy’s voice came this time. “mother, what would happen to me if I ever used my gift to hurt another bender?” the voice echoed in every inch of his mind. This was a memory! He wanted to know the answer, Focus Zuko, what did your mother say?
The echo faded as a ripple appeared in the water. Something had broken the moment. Now an all familiar giggle came from up in the air and a great shadow passed over. Zuko looked up. It was him. The Avatar, the very reason for this turmoil.

Blair stood facing the window overlooking Central Park in the master bedroom of the penthouse of The Empire Hotel, which was a part of her boyfriend Chuck’s empire. She was dressed in a gold, full-length beaded dress, which hung from her shoulders like a piece of silk. She looked perfect, and she knew it. Tonight was the Empire Hotel’s New Years Eve party and she was not going to let anything ruin her night. This year had been a long, tiring one and she was looking forward to seeing the back of it. As she watched a helicopter approach the landing pad of the Hotel, she heard the quiet click of Chuck’s front door and knew somebody was trying to discreetly enter the penthouse. Nobody does discreet like Blair Waldorf though. She slipped into the bedrooms connecting en suite and sat on the edge of the freestanding vintage bath. The approaching clicking of a woman’s stilettos stopped short of the en suite’s door, meaning they were directly standing where Blair had been no less than 30 seconds ago. Blair lifted her chin and attempted to portray a look of assurance, then stepped out of her hiding place and approached the intruder.

Serena stood in the elevator, watching the numbers rise as it took her to the top floor. Nate and Chuck had gone ahead to the New Years Eve party while Serena had opted to find her best friend before facing the onslaught of Gossip Girl followers. The site was notorious for spilling secrets of Upper East Siders, and it certainly hadn’t failed to deliver today. The doors to the elevator opened to Chuck’s extravagant entrance hall and Serena stepped out, the train of her Alexandra Wang dress making it through the elevator doors just as they closed.

“Blair, are you here? You’re missing the party,” Serena called out. She moved further into the apartment trying to find her best friend. “Blair?” Her best friend stayed mute, which was puzzling because there was nowhere else she could be; Blair’s Prada clutch had been sitting on the entrance hall table and she would not leave without it. Serena took another step forward, and tripped; someone had approached Serena from behind and stood on the train of her dress. She stood up and turned to face the careless person. Her boyfriend, Dan, was standing behind her wearing a full black outfit, and a balaclava was hanging from his hand.

“Serena, I wish you hadn’t come. Nobody was supposed to know about this,” and Dan reached his hand out to help Serena up. Puzzled, Serena accepted his hand and he pulled her up from the ground.
“Dan, what are you doing here? Where is Blair? What are you wearing? I can’t believe you just stood on my dress like that! Where is Blair?”
“Blair is in the dining room, Gossip Girl just sent out a blast and Blair hasn’t taken it well…” Gossip Girl was notorious for sending out damaging secrets and betrayals on key social dates, but Serena was puzzled that she hadn’t received the blast. She picked up her dress and ran to the dining room to find her best friend sitting calmly at the table, looking at here phone. Blair looked up from her iPhone and smiled at her best friend.
“Serena! What are you doing here?” Blair seemed genuinely surprised to see Serena in the apartment, oblivious to the fact that her presence was being missed downstairs in the building.
“Blair, we are supposed to be at the party! It’s 7.30. Please, lets go?” Serena pleaded. “And can you show me the last Gossip Girl post? My phone is playing up, I didn’t get it!”
“Serena…” Blair, queen Bee, was speechless.
“Why is Dan here, B?” Serena questioned, the strangeness of the situation slowly dawning on her. Serena’s best friend and her boyfriend were sworn enemies, at the least. That was when Serena and Blair’s phones went off in unison. Gossip Girl again…

Hey Upper East Siders, New Years Eve is upon us and but it seems the belle of the ball is yet to arrive. Looks like Serena Van Der Woodsen will be making a late appearance to the Empire’s event of the year… I wonder if Lonely Boy is going to kick her while she is down? Until next year. XOXO – Gossip Girl.”

Gossip Girl had referred to Dan as Lonely Boy ever since he appeared on the Upper East Side scene from Brooklyn. Puzzled to see her name in the blast, Serena downloaded the file attached to the message. Slowly her black Christian Louboutin high heels were revealed, and a foot on the back of her dress, and then the image was fully loaded and Serena saw herself fallen over on Chuck’s tiled, Dan’s foot placed directly on the back of her dress, pinning it, and Serena, to the floor. Serena spun around to face Dan once again.

“Dan… How did Gossip Girl get this photo? What is going on?” Serena looked from her boyfriend to her best friend and back.
“Serena, I wanted to tell you but it would ruin everything. Blair was not supposed to be here tonight, you are both supposed to be at the party. You have put me in a really difficult situation.” Dan’s phone was in his hand, and was demanding his attention. Serena snatched it out of his hand and looked at the screen, faced with the Gossip Girl page, as she had never seen it before; from the admin’s home page. She took a step back.
“Dan… What’s going on?” Blair joined Serena at her side and put her arm around her best friend and showed her the Gossip Girl blast Serena had missed.
Sometimes the partner is more shocking than the crime itself. Don’t let that first flame burn you, it might leave a scar. XOXO – Gossip Girl.”
Blair proceeded to show her best friend a collaged picture of Dan, Lonely Boy, with his phone at multiple different occasions of accidents, betrayals and secret meetings in the same all black outfit, balaclava over his head or tucked under his arm. Serena looked up at her boyfriend to see him on his phone. He looked up at her and her face fell, and Blair’s phone in front of her went off as another Gossip Girl blast came in…

Adventure Time - The rift of two brothers.

Chapter one.

“What’s the point.  I put my life on the line countless times for her.  I have travelled far and wide, completed every quest, killed every beast and still my love for Princess Bubblegum is unrequited.  There is no point”.

To most people, it was another ordinary day in the land of Ooo.  The birds were chirping, the worms were squirming and the sun was burping.  You would expect Finn and Jake to be out in the world looking for adventures, but this day was no ordinary day.  The human boy fin, for the first time in his life, had given up.  After years of being in love with Princess Bubblegum, Finn finally found the courage to tell her the night before that he was in love her.  Princess Bubblegum only saw Finn as a friend, this caused Finn to fall into a dark abyss that is impossible to get out of, Finn was cast into the Friend Zone.

Finn’s dog, Jake, knew Finn was feeling down and thought he’d try and cheer him up, “cheer up man!  I hate to see you like this, lets go some where fun!”  Jake said.  Finn slowly sat up in his bed, turned to Jake and simply said “no”.  “No!? what do you mean no?  We have grown up together in this tree house and not once have I ever heard you say the word no!  We’re going on an adventure!”  Jake said.  Finn hesitated, he didn’t want to ruin Jake’s day by being in a bad mood, so he rolled out of bed onto the floor and continued to roll until he ended up at Jake’s feet and said, “this better be worth my time”.  Jake had nothing up his sleeve, he had no idea how to get Finn excited, so he had to lie, “don’t worry man!  I have a surprise for you, you’re gonna love it!”

After Finn and Jake had a hearty breakfast consisting of flapjacks and Toblerone, they set off to the surprise.  They headed towards the Desolate Desert of Ooo, a forgotten land where the ancient civilisation of the clay people formerly existed.  There was an awkward silence on the way to the desert, simply because Jake had no idea what to say.  Should he try bring up the awkward topic that was Princess Bubblegum and try to consult Finn on his love issues or should he just try and do whatever he could to distract Finn from even thinking about his depressing life?  Before Jake could come up with a decision, Finn spoke, “hurry up Jake, where’s the surprise?  I’m getting sick of walking when I know I could be at home sleeping”.  “Well Finn, to tell you the truth...there is no surprise.  I was hoping we would find an adventure to engage in while we were here, sorry Finn”.  Finn came to an abrupt stopped and stared at Jake while Jake took a few more steps.  Jake could see the anger in Finn’s face.  Finn’s pale white face had turned into into a shade of blood red.  His eyebrows became inverted and his teeth started to grind and Jake knew he was in trouble.  “WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE’S NO SURPRISE!?”  We’re now in the middle of no where in this god forsaken land with no end in sight all for a wild goose chase!  I’m going home Jake, don’t follow me”  Jake was stunned, he had never seen  Finn so angry or even shout at him for that matter.  Jake knew he was in the wrong, but he didn’t mean any harm.  “Finn I’m sorry” Jake said, “I was just trying to do the right thing and cheer you up”.  “I don’t care Jake, you lied to me, I’m going home”.

“Finn wait!!”, Jake tried one last desperate effort to change Finn’s mind.  Just as Finn turned around to look at Jake a final time, a small dark cloud, about the size of a van, appeared from the sky.  Finn and Jake were confused.  Where did this cloud come from? There weren’t any other clouds in the sky, let alone any black clouds.  Finn and Jake stared intently as this cloud slowly hovered towards Jake until it was right above his head.  “Drip, drip, drip”, the cloud was producing a few drops of rain but, it was no ordinary rain, it was a gold colour and smelt of lemon.  “Look Finn!  A lemon rain cloud, how cool is this, who needs a lemon squeezer when you have a lemon cloud!” Jake said enthusiastically.  “Haha yea I guess that is pretty cool!”, Finn said.

As the two friends continued to talk, the rain was pouring even harder on Finn, making his fur sticky, “oh man this is just annoying now!”  Jake said.  Jake kept trying to run away from the cloud but it would keep following him, not even letting him have a single second of peace.  “Ok Jake quit it, lets go”, “I can’t Finn, it won’t leave me alone!”.  As Jake was saying these final words, the cloud split into two halves and produced not rain, but a single beam of light onto Jake and within a second, Jake was beamed up into the cloud.  “Jake!!!!”  Finn sprinted towards the cloud to try catch it, but he was not fast enough.  The cloud closed off and sped away into the distance.  Finn fell to his knees, “Nooooooooo!”  Finn screamed at the top of his lungs, almost fainting in the process.  Finn didn’t know what to do, he didn’t know what happened and he didn’t know who did this.  Until he spotted a single lemon in the sand.  Finn went up to inspect it and it was upon inspection, he knew who took Jake.  Finn finally realised who it was and was angry at himself for not realising it sooner when the cloud rained.  It was a Lemon.  The calling card of Lemongrab....
